This privacy notice sets out how Wigan Jazz Club (WJC) uses and protects any information that you give us. WJC will be what is known as the Controller of the personal data you provide to us. We only collect information about you so that we can advise you of any upcoming events or activities of the club, and to facilitate renewal of annual membership. This will include your name, your address, email address and, phone numbers.

Why we need your data
We need to know your basic personal data in order to provide you with on-going organisational information and use it to communicate with you about opportunities which are of specific musical interest but only if we have received your consent to do so. We will not collect any personal data from you that we do not need except to provide this service to you.

What we do with your data
All the personal data we process is processed by WJC and we will not share your information and no third parties have access to your personal data unless the law allows them to do so. We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect.

How long we keep your data
For information relating to billing for our services, and for membership payments, we are required under UK tax law to keep your basic personal data (name, address, contact details) for a minimum of 6 years after which time it will be destroyed. All other information relating to you will be destroyed within 6 months of your discontinued use of our services. Data collected for specific projects will be destroyed immediately that the project is concluded.

What are your rights
If at any point you believe the information we process on you is incorrect you can request to see this information and have it corrected or deleted. If you wish to raise a complaint on how we have handled your personal data, you can contact us to have the matter investigated. Likewise, if you have consented to us using your information for the communication of future opportunities you are free to withdraw this consent at any time by contacting WJC.
