DUFFY, the sax-playing pub owner from County Mayo joins Grainne, and they are backed by the excellent MARTIN LONGHAWN TRIO..

Our guests for the final concert of the season are new to Wigan but by no means new to the big band scene. Described as "West Yorkshire's most dynamic and high energy big band", this 18-piece ensemble is made up of some of the finest musicians in the country, with vast experience in performing throughout the UK, Europe, and USA.

AJO are absolutely delighted to announce that Ryan Quigley, one of the UKs top jazz and big band trumpet players, will be guesting with them at their gig at  Wigan Jazz Club on Sunday 30th June. Ryan is one of the most in-demand lead and jazz trumpet players in the UK as well as a highly regarded composer, arranger and educator. He has been involved in many projects involving musicians from around the world including Allan Bergman, The Bad Plus, Tim Garland, the late George Michael, Eddie Reader, and Justin Currie, and is part of the incredible trumpet line of the Louis Dowdswell Big Band. He has also toured the world with bands such as Salsa Celtica, The Unusual Suspects, The Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, The RTE Concert Orchestra and The Irish National Symphony Orchestra. As well as all of the above, Ryan leads and writes for his own bands, quartet, quintet, sextet and big band. Winner of a Parliamentary Jazz Award, a Scottish Jazz Award and a UK Jazz Services Award.
